Antitrust clears 214 KFC franchisee outlets purchase by Almira

MOSCOW, Feb 21 (PRIME) -- The Federal Antimonopoly Service has cleared the purchase of 214 franchisee restaurants under the KFC brand by Almira from Poland's AmRest, the authority said in a statement on Tuesday.

"The catering market in the regions of presence of the restaurants is qualified as highly-competitive by the Federal Antimonopoly Service, the share of the acquired restaurants does not exceed 1% of the total number of such outlets in any of the regions. In the opinion of the authority, the deal will not affect competition on the catering markets," the service said.

Franchisees owned 1,058 KFC-branded restaurants in Russia as of June 2022.

Smart Service Ltd. received the franchise from Yum! Restaurants Russia in November.

AmRest said in December that it would sell its restaurants to Almira for at least 100 million euros.
